The book Beastly is about a young man names Kyle, who is very arrogant and selfish. The story starts with a web chat amongst interesting characters yet to be reviled... I'm looking forward to reading this book.

I agree with what you're saying and I think the reason he is arrogant and selfish is because that's probably how his dad acts and he has a maid to do everything for him. He probably thinks he's really important just because he's popular

I think that Kyle's dad is very mean because he never spends time with his son. When Kyle turns into a beast, his dad doesn't even care. His dad was so embarrassed by his own son that he bought him his own house so that they didn't have to share the same house.I wonder if the dad will ever change his personality? I mean, so far it doesn't really seem like he will ever change.

I agree, but also one of the reasons why his dad doesn't really pay attention to him is because of work. He is always working, and never tries to take a break and take care of his son. He has never got to know him, so he doesn't really care. I think because of his wife dying, that he is trying to bury his pain with work.

  2. The setting of the book Beastly is so far at a private High School in New York City and in the home of Kyle, a very selfish and arrogant teenage boy. The setting is important to the novel, because most of Kyle's backround and what he is, is in the High School. Also his home kind of sets the scene of his relationship with his dad. The main characters so far are Kyle Kingsbury and Kendra a weird gothic chick in one of his classes. Kyle is described as popular, selfish, and a little lonely because his dad is never around. Kendra has a witch kind of vibe to her as described in the book.

I like your interpretation of Kyles loneliness I didn't really think of him as being lonely. New Your city seems such a weird place for a beast.I think this book is based on the Disney movie Beauty and the Bast there the beast was in the castle in the woods and he didn't really have a family but kyle is a beast in a city with lots of people every where. I wonder how hes going to get his food or where hes going to live I mean really who would like a beast for a neighbor?

I considered him lonely because nobody wanted to talk to him because of the way he looked. He didn't have a good relationship with his father, and he pretty much shunned him because he was a beast. His friends just liked him because he was popular and looked good. They wouldn't want to have anything to do with him if they knew he looked like a beast. Also just because there are a lot of people in the city doesn't mean anything. In the subway, later in the book, people saw him and freaked out.

The book Beastly stars with main character named Kyle in school. The begging is him in school with his friends who are about to go to a dance.Though some of the book takes place in Kyles school most of it takes place in his home.I think that the house is the novels setting because Kyle spends most of his time there the reason he is in his house is because after he turns in to a beast he does not want to be seen in public. The main characters in the book are Kyle everyone could agree that the story is about him even he can i think that cause hes so self-centered.I have not gone far with the book but i think that there will be a girl in the book that will be really important to the story. The witch that turns him in to a beast is really important at the begging but i don"t think shes that important after that. Those are the characters that i think that are very important to the story.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but I think you might have left out a few things. I think you should have mentioned that Kyle lives with just his dad, and he doesn't have a great relationship with him. Also it is important that he doesn't want to be seen in public, but it also shows that he depends on what people think of him. He thinks that no one could love him the way that his is.

The setting of the book Beastly is in school, and at his home. I think this is important because it helps show how he is a popular guy at school, and at home it shows that he has a bad relationship with his dad, which probably led to some of his arrogance. The main character in this book is a high school boy named Kyle Kingsbury. Kyle was described directly as a arrogant, popular, and selfish. Indirectly, he is described as lonely.

I agree with your statement about his bad relationship with his dad probably leading to his arrogance. I think he acts the way he does because he doesn't get enough attention at home but he can get whatever he wants because his dad makes a lot of money

I agree a lot with this, Kyle had a perfect life with all the money and always got the prettiest of girls, so why was he so arrogant? You're right, probably because he had an ugly relationship with his father. I think Lindy is a very positive influence on him because ever since he has been living with her, she seems a lot more out going and less up tight. He is less judgemental because he knows now people would judge him like no other.

The setting of Beastly is in New York, and so far in a private high school and in the home of the main character. I think these settings are important because the school is where he meets the girl that transforms him, and his home shows what his relationship with his dad is like. The main characters are Kyle Kingsbury and Kendra. Kyle is described as rich and really popular. Kendra is described as weird, creepy, and a witch.

The setting of Beastly is a private school in New York and the home of the main charecter. The setting is importent to the novel because it helps show how Kyle is just a normal teenager that goes to school. The main charecters so far in the novel are Kyle Kingsbury and Kendra. Kyle is directly describled as popular, selfish and rude, but indirectly showing that he is lonley. Kendra is directly describes as wierd, creepy, and a witch, but indirectly wants to fit in because by going to the dance with Kyle she will be more popular. She also is telling everyone in the school about her date, so she looks cooler.

I thought that Kendra was just trying to fit in by saying yes to go to the dance with Kyle to but I did not know that she told every one that she was going.I was also very surprised when she got there and how he humiliated her but she didn't even care. I would just run for my life and never come back if that happened to me!!! It was funny when she turns out to be the witch who's crying now.

The setting is a private high school in New York. This is important because the students in this upper class high school are shallow and judgmental which effects how they interact with one another. The main characters are Kyle Kingsbury and Kendra. Kyle is a rich, self- centered good-looking guy who likes to make fun of anyone who is not as blessed as he is with looks. He is very egotistical. Kendra has strange ways and appears to accept others for merely who they are. She is dark and eccentric presenting a creepy presence. Kyle calls her a “witch.”

What you said was all true. I think you could have mentioned that most of the story takes place in his house. That is really important to the story because it shows his relationship with his father, but it also shows that he hasn't had a good home life which also may have led to some of his arrogance.

Although, Beastly opens up in a private high school in New York, the primary setting is in the main character, Kyle's, house. These are both very significant to the story. The private upper class school lets us know Kyle has money. It also shows us a bit of his personality-he's very narcissistic and immensely popular. At his house, we can see the relationship he has with his shallow father, a very busy news reporter who has no time for Kyle. Because of this, their relationship is strained. The main characters of the story so far are Kyle Kingsbury and Kendra. Kendra is described as weird and creepy. She is also a witch, the witch who makes Kyle's exterior as ugly as his interior. Though she may seem cruel, she has given him a second chance, a chance to find love within a two year period. If he can succeed, the curse will be reversed.

I agree with your statement about Kendra trying to fit in. In both the book and the movie she showed signs of her insecurities. I think Kendra acts as so eccentric because she wants to hide all of those insecurities, but she’s also a free spirit, which adds on to her odd ways. Kendra is what I would call a mutt, a mixture of everything.

The external conflict that Kyle Kingsbury has is his appearance. Being a beast is probably the most difficult conflict he would have to face. I think that because when people see something not normal they usually don't like it so they would do any thing in their power to get rid of the thing they are afraid of or make it feel very miserable.Kyle Kingsbury is a beast you can guess how hard it is for Kyle.He has an internal conflict that conflict caused him his looks and all the trouble hes going through. This conflict is his personality he's very rude and mean he doesn't know how to be nice to ugly people.Kyle will resolve his conflict by learning how to love some one that is not pretty but they also had to love his beastly face.In this novel the author created a depressing mood. The reason i say that is Kyle is a beast locked up i a house with no friends or people he calls his family his dad doesn't even care about him that all is very depressing to me but don't worry it all ends well.

An external conflict a character is struggling with in Beastly is when Kendra turns Kyle into a beast. Kyle got turned into a beast because he was so selfish to other people. This is an external conflict because a something physically happened. I think the conflict will be resolved by Kyle fulfilling what breaks the spell I guess you could call it. He has to find someone who will love him for not just his looks but his personality. The author has created a sad and depressing mood because he never gets to see his friends so he gets a lot of free time to think about everything.

The external conflict Kyle is struggling with is that Kendra made him look like a beast and extremely ugly so he would know what it feels like to not be popular and good-looking. I think this conflict will be resolved if Kyle can find someone to love him within the certain amount of time so he can reverse the spell. The mood is sad because now he won't have any friends.

I agree with you that Kyle has a struggle with his looks, but he also has an internal conflict of being very rude and the problem of not liking ugly people. The internal conflict will prevent him from falling in love by the time he needs to. I hope that the internal conflict will not prevent him from falling in love. He also has a problem because the other person might not like him not just for his looks, but also for his personality.

I don't think the internal conflict of him not liking ugly people is going to stop from falling in love because he doesn't find Lindy ugly, actually he thinks she is very beautiful strangely. The conflict would be that he needs to get Lindy to fall for him. You're right when you say that him being rude is a negative component of the conflict because it is hard to fall for someone who doesn't treat you right.

The book Beastly had a very interesting ending I personally liked it because it didn't end how I predicted it would. The story was right on some of the ending but there were some things I did not expect to happen. Some people changed and got more than they wanted while others stayed the same and got nothing. This book was chosen as a gateway book for many reasons while it was a fiction book it still taught me a lot of things. One thing is being mean to other people does not have a very good out come and two being rich and pretty will not get you everything you want. While you think everyone loves you the minute you lose your looks and money, you will lose your so called friends with it. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. In my own words the reason the book was chosen is to teach the readers to be kind to every one even if they don't look the way you want them to look.

An internal conflict in Beastly occurs when Kyle's dad abandons him. Kyle would never admit it, but he secretly misses his dad.
An external conflict occurs when Kyle is turned into a beast. Kyle vs. Society. He's scared to go out in public for the fear of people taking one look at him and thinking he's a monster-and at first glance, who wouldn't? Kyle would be frowned upon by society and it's because of this fear that he is confined to his house.
Once Kyle finds someone to love him for his personality and not his looks, the curse will be broken and he will become 'human' again. But first, he must understand his wrongdoings and change his personality.
The mood the author uses could be described as melancholy because Kyle is suffering from a deep sorrow.

The book Beastly is about a boy named Kyle who was turned in to a beast by a witch. She didn't think kyle was a very nice person because he was mean to people he thought were ugly or didn't meet his rich and good looking standards.
Once Kyle was turned in to a beast he realized that his friends weren't really friends at all.He learned that you shouldn't chose friends by there looks but by how kind and trusting someone is.
In the end Kyle learned not to judge people by their looks. Through that learning Kyles spell was broken and he was turned back to normal person.
