The setting is in a boot camp far away from anyone. The main character is Garrett. He is sent away to a boot camp because he is misbehaving at home. He does not like being at the boot camp because he has no control of what happens. He is a level one which means he has to listen to everything said by his ¨parent¨. The goal is for him to behave right but it will take a while. The quicker he learns from his mistakes and corrects them the sooner he can leave.

The setting of the book boot camp is a very strict boot camp named lake harmony. The main character Garrett is sent there because he does not comply with his mother’s demands and he consistently breaks the law. He does not like being told what to do but at lake Harmony you must listen to what your "fathers and mothers" tell you. This troubles him because he always questions authority and doing so causes conflict with in the camp. The other kids at the camp are also troubled so that causes conflict between Garrett and his peers. Garrett starts to realize that he has to listen and learn so that he can leave sooner.

The setting is in a extremely strict boot camp named lake harmony. The main character is Garrett he argues with is parents so they sent him to boot camp to see if this will improve his attitude. He doesn't like boot camp at all because he can't do what he wants and he has no choice on what to do. In boot camp you have to listen to what his parents tell you he causes conflicts in boot camp then he realizes that if he does what they say he can get out sooner. That boot camp will be better if he just did what they told him to.

In boot camp the setting is strict because when Garrett argues with his parents he is sent to a boot camp named lake harmony and they are complete rudeness because they make him lay face down on floor all day or stand straight up for all day they also make him get completely naked an Garrett gets very upset. Im not saying that the boot camp is good im just saying if he would have not argued with him parents and do what the guards tell him to do then it wouldnt be that bad. But sense he also doesnt like to follow rules then its gonna be alittle bit hard for him because the gaurds and his parents dont put up with his additude.

A characters actions that i disagree with is Adam. He is a bully and is doing the work for lake harmony because he thinks he will get out sooner. He purposely drops aa heave box holding a TV on to Garrett trying to hurt him. I don’t like this because it is a cheap shot. Adam also has a shiv made out of a toothbrush which he uses to scare people into obeying him, and if that doesn't work he will stab them. Adam and his group are the bullies and are not going to be released because they are needed.

First off i like the characters name but yes adam is a bully but garret is so bad to his parents. The hole heavy box thing is bad and rude but i kinda think its funny but i guess that's me. His shiv he won't stab anybody. I think garret is more rude.

    2. I also think that Adam isnt doing the right thing because he is there to be a better peron and he is getting nowhere if he continues to bully other camp member. What did you think of Adam hurting the other camp members and not geting in trouble for it?

i disagree with Joe because he abuses the children in the camp Joe thinks it is his job description to abuse kids and he is able to get away with it. people on the outside of the camp knows about Joes abuse. Joe will do what ever he can to get a kick out of his job. Joe is like a vulture he sits and waits for someone to slip up so he can use his disipline methods on his victom. Sometimes joe uses some of the other kids at the camp as his pawns to his evil ways he brainwashes all of his prisoners. i think they should fire Joe but the camp owner won't fire him because Joe is doing what they wan't him to do.

Joe can be like a hawk. But i think even adam is more mean than him. And the abusing kids thing i think they are all there for the same reason for the most part so they are for the most part equally bad in there on ways it all about preference. You don't get sent to boot camp for being nice there is a reason and in this they all kinda have there same differences.

I feel like what joe doing is not because he doesn’t like the kids he isn’t trying to be mean to them he is trying to teach them to listen to people of power. He uses his strategies to break the kids down so they are more open to listening.

    3. i agree with jack because joe does abuse kids

The character that i disagree with his behavior is garrett because he has a big additude and is sent to a boot camp because he argues with his parents and doesnt listening to them. And he doesnt even want to listen to the gaurds at lake harmony. i mean he is there for a reason once he starts to act right then he will get to go home. And im pretty sure he doesnt want to stay at a boot camp for ever. But we will see if he decides to start acting right.

The character that I disagree with is garrett he is aggressive and not vary compliant t boot camp he gets mad and argues with is parents. He doesn't follow orders and commands of the guards and people with power. He doesn't understand that if he just tries to behaves it doesn't have to be real he could fake it, so that at least he can get out of boot camp and go home. Although he would prolly get sent right back to boot camp if he did that so, he should just act right and he won't have to worry about getting in boot camp and getting beat up from all the work in boot camp.

    1. I agree with this because the camp is just trying to help garrett become a better person but he refuses to comply with there orders and he continues to think that he isnt in the wrong and the camp is wrong and he should be able to do what he wants. I agree that he is trying to fake it and that he is just trying to get out with out changing.

I agree with you that Garrett was not cooperative with the people who worked there. If he would understand that he was in the wrong then it would go quicker for him and wouldn’t be as bad as it is for him when he’s constantly getting in trouble. He just needs to see that they are trying to help him.

  9. The character i disagree with is garrett. Garrett is always trying to do things that are against camp rules such as passing notes and talking when he shouldnt be talking. If he listened to what the camp wants him to do and puts forth the effort to be a better person he would be a better person and he would be out of the camp. The reason he acts like this is because he thinks he can fake it and make the camp think he is changing but he really isnt. Him and his friends are coming up with a plan to escape which could end up being really bad if they get caught. All this trouble needs to be stopped in my opinion because the camp is trying to make them better people and prevent them from doing bad things but Garrett wants to leave and go back to his past life of drugs and stealing.

I agree that Garretts actions are bad. He doesn’t seem to understand that he is the one who is in the wrong. He thinks that he is there by mistake and that lake harmony is only trying to hurt him, but they are really there to help him.

I think the most important conflict in the book had to be between Garrett and Lake Harmony. This is the most important because it was the base of the whole book. Garrett is sent there to correct his behaviors but he doesn’t believe that he should be there. With Lake Harmony using the other kids to punish the other lower level kids is something that garrett has to deal with and see happen. I thought it was interesting to see how Garrett dealt with the way Lake Harmony was run he sort of understood the system better than some of the other kids there.

I also think that the main conflict is the conflict between Garrett and Lake Harmony. Garrett Doesn't believe in their practices. This causes him to fight with the people at lake harmony and this also forms the story based on the belief that they are bad and he must leave.

The most important conflict in the book boot camp is the conflict between garrett and lake harmony. Garrett is constantly clashing heads with the staff at lake harmony and the other camp members at lake harmony. This leads to Garrett trying to escape and that forms the entire story. If there was no conflict between Garrett and Lake Harmony there would be no need for Garrett to escape and there would be no story.

I agree with you that garrett and lake harmony is the main conflict in the book. Because Garrett doesn’t think he’s in the wrong so he tries to resist them. But over time he comes to the realization that he is in the wrong and they are trying to help.

Be able to overcome obstacles. That is what i believe the theme is. Multiple times Garrett says “yes, Sir” this is an example of overcoming obstacles because he is understanding that they are in power and deserve respect. Another example is Garrett's mom she says “I’m here to take you out of this place.” (pg 231) This is an example of overcoming the fear of having to stay there either until he learns how to behave or turns 18. The most important one is him learning that what he was doing was wrong. Close to the end he starts to realize that what he used to do was wrong.

Yes he overcomes obstacles but the theme doesn't have to be about just him it can be about everybody. Such as they are similar as they all are there for a reason to improve their attitude that's why the theme is troubled teens. But they do overcome obstacles.

  13. The theme of the book boot camp is to persevere. Through out the book Garrett keeps his cool and follows the camps orders even if they are wrong. "welcome to TI-Temporary Isolation-where i am forced to lie face down on the cold concrete floor for twenty-four hours a day except for a few minutes here and there to eat or use the restroom." (pg 30) Garrett follows the camps orders and completes the twenty four hours of pain and suffering. It takes perseverance to complete those twenty four hours."if i answer you'll just hit me again sir. POW!he hits me anyway." Garrett takes a beating from his camp leader and does nothing because he will get in trouble.

That is true but the theme is more than just garrett he does keep his cool and just takes everything and does nothing about it. Yes but they all all the same in one circumstance is that they are all troubled teens that are there to improve their attitude

The main theme of boot camp is trouble teens. This is the main theme because the purpose of the plot is to show what it is like for a teen to be sent to one of the many boot camps in America that is designed to take a troubled teen and force them to comply with their parents. Most of these places are legitimate attempts to take criminal teens or teens that use drugs and convince them that they would be better off learning discipline and order.(page10)”im in a boot camp and its purpose is to brake me down and train like a cowboy or a bronco or a dog is taught in obedience school”. (page7) “ you must accept the fact that you deserved to be sent to lake harmony”
