Deadline

  1. I loved this book. Even though a bit depressing, it was kind of inspirational. I loved how even when faced with death, Ben took advantage of the situation and made the best of his senior year. He was so strong and brave to go on with life even after he knew he was going to die. Even though a good book, I didn't like the ending that much. I wish something different would've happened. I would recommend it to people even with the disappointing ending.

  2. The setting of deadline would be a small town called Trout in Idaho, in present time. I think that Trout being a small town, with a population of 943, has a lot to do with the book because in small towns people usualy know everything about one another and are fairly close. So since Ben Wolf is dieing i think it will effect alot of people in the town since they all knew him.
ben Wolf is also the main character in the book. He is very small for being a senior(direct) and he was going to be a shoein for state for cross country, instead he went out for football which everyone thinks is a insane choice. Ben ended up being a very good asset to the team, he makes it like a math equasion (indirectly showing hes really smart.) and is all over the field getting almost every tackle. but only being so far into the book thats all i know, and have to say.

  3. rachel i agree with you on how its such a small town and when you only have 943 people that go to your school keeping a secret is almost impossible.
if i was ben i couldnt do it. i would have to tell someone and have someone to talk about it with if i was him i would feel so alone and considering i only had a year to live i would want to make the most of it not hide and keep everything to myself. but also if i was ben considering my mom and how she is i wouldnt want any one to know about my secret because i wouldnt want to upset her and the last moments i have with her to be happy ones.

i agree with grants statment "Ben Wolf is about 18 and is diagnosed with a rare disease. This causes him to be much more outgoing and forces him to bring some more excitement into his life" because i also thought this. ben lead a more boring to himself kinda life before he found out his secret.
ben was a cross country runner and now hes the big shot football player.
allthough ben got this very terrible unexpected news allot of good things have happened to him to he got asked out buy the girl of his dreams and there now going to homecoming together.

The main charecters name is Ben Wolf. He is a senior in high school and lives in Trout, Idaho. Ben came into his senior year with big plans. Soon enough he found out terrible news from his doctor. Ben has a fatel illness. He decides to not tell anyone and keep it just between him and his doctor. With Ben now knowing he only has so much time to live he plans to make the best of his last year. Ben is going to do things noone would expect. For example trying out for the football team, with no experience of playing.

I think the setting will be improtant to this novel because it simply is about a small town boy in an unpopulated state and there will be a reason for that in this novel and I will soon find out.

The setting for this book is present day in a small town. In the book so far it has talked about how the main character lives where there is a very small amount of people which means that there are almost no secrets.I think that the setting will be important to the novel because in the story in mentions how news travels fast in small towns and everyone knows everyone, so I predict that the main chacter's secret will get out at some point and it will change the his big plan. Once everyone knows his secret he won't be treated the same and won't be able to do the things he wanted to do before he dies.

The setting in this book is all over the place. It starts out with a boy who finds out that he has a disease and he only has his senior year to live his life. He is in and out of his house, the doctors office, his highschool and his highschool football field. The setting in this book is very important because only has one year to live and so these places are where this young senior will spend the rest of his life at. He doesnt have much time to live so every where hes at is important.

Deadline takes place in a small town in Texas. In their small highschool of only a couple hundred students football is big. Since the main character plays football i believe he will probably have a big impact in the story for better or worse. Since he lives in such a small town if he does die then everyone will know about it. Not to mention that such a small school means if he does die he'll get a lot of attention. So since he lives in a small town in Texas and attends such a small highschool he can have an easier time working on his "legacy" whether it will be good or bad.

This book takes place in a small town in Texas. Ben, the main character, describes it as a "hick" town. To elaborate on how small it is, you should know that he only has a class of 93 people. The story begins with Ben discovering that he is terminally ill, with cancer. He has one year to live out the rest of his life. it's his senior year of highschool and he's going to go out with a bang. He is 125 pounds, and goes out for football. Therefore, a lot of the book takes place on the football field. Ben also plans to pursue everything he ever wanted to do. This includes oing after the girl of his dreams, Dallas Suzuki. So, will he get the girl, and will he live out every one of his dreams before he dies? I cant wait to find out!

In the book Deadline there is a boy named Ben Wolf. He lives in Idaho. He goes to the doctor and the doctor tells him that he is going to die. Ben won't tell anyone but the doctor wants him to. Cody is Ben's younger brother but he is bigger than Ben and is also a star quarterback on the school's football team. When Ben finds out he is going to die he decides to play football. He is a senior and would have gone to state in cross country. I think Ben will do as much as he can before he dies and try new things.

The setting of deadline is a small town with a guy that’s gets a rare form of cancer. The setting might be important in this novel bc if I was a really big city then they might have had a better cure for it and instead of him opting out of the slight chance of the cure he might have gotten it. Also it shows that he’s has a lot of strength to know that he only has a year to live and still be able to live with it and not tell anyone about it. I love this book a lot and don’t want to stop reading it.

My book has a setting in a small town and in a high school of few students. Trout High School. In this story the main carachter finds out he has a disease but keeps it a secret and wants to become a football player, and at his school he has a very low chance since he had never played before. He had been involved in either track or cross country for all his high school years. Since their high school is a small school im sure people are wandering why he waited until his senior year to try for a football postion. Later in the story i think that more and more people are going to ask questions about him and why he is trying to become first string football player. The coach is willing to let him play and see what he can do but in a small town there are going to be questions why he is doing what is happening in my book. With the medical care in his small town with only one doctor who has been taking care of him since birth, it is going to be hard keeping his secret a secret between him and the doctor and the secratary for long.

the 3 main charachters are Ben Wolf, Cody Wolf and Dallias Suzuki. Ben wolf is a senior trying out for his frist year of foot ball. Ben has always helped his brother Cody the start QB for the football team on understanding plays. Ben is a tiny boy that is about 123 pounds and 18 years old. ben has a disease that has caused his hole life to change making him only able to live for 12 months and he almost acts as if he dosnt care and just wants it to take over his body from head to toe. he Hates going to his therapist let alone he refuses treatment.
Cody Wolf is Ben younger borther by only 11 months. hes the start football player, his position being QB. dosnt have the brains like Ben just kinda trying to get by in shigh school and livein it up on the football feild
Dallas Suzuki the girl in Bens eyes is absolutly perfect from her tall hour galls figer the valleyball skills. Bens main gole in this story is to get with her. Dallas finly starts to talk to him, and waht do you know some pretty crazy stuff gose down that even been cant believe.

Ben Wolf; the main charecter. There is a lot to say about him. What makes me questin about him is that he has been diagnosed with a disease that only leaves him a year to live. But he doesn't want to treat it? He want's to keep it a secret and live life out to the fullest until this disease takes his life. Ben is quite the small kid at 123 pounds and not very tall.

Dallas Suzuki; Ben Wolfs dream girl. She is extremly tall, absolutly gorgeous (in Ben's eyes), part asian, and plays some intense volleyball. What is indirect about Dallas is that she has only has hung out with Ben twice and they become intimate. After that Dallas didn't seem to show much interest.

Mary the therapist; She's in her mid twenties, and she looks very young. What I found that was indirect about Mary is when Ben was talking about love at first sight, Mary began to cry. Never said any reason for it, but started to cry.

The main character of this book is Ben. Ben is a very short boy who looks just like his brother Cody, with short hair and a boyish face. He is very consederate about other people's feelings. He aslo has a sence of humor. He is very deticated in his sports. Ben is being brave by accepting his death. He is more outgoing and willing to go the extra mile. Ben is not afraid to live everyday of his life like it is his last. Another main character is Dallas. Dallas is a very tall and beautiful girl, who is on Ben's before he dies list. She is very confident and tough. She is an extreamly confident volleyball player. Cody is also a main character. He is Bens's brother. They are eleven monthes apart in age. Cody is the Quaterback for the highschool football team. He is very supportive to his brother. Cody is a very deticated and hard worker when it comes to football.

There are a couple main characters in this book. The main one out of all of them is Ben Wolf. Ben lives in Idaho with his dad, mom and brother Cody Wolf. He is a senior and only has 1 year to live beceause of a disease his doctor diagnosed him with. He has a couple things in mind that he wants to do before his life comes to an end.Ben goes out for the highschool football team. Keep in mind he is only 123 pounds. Thats not very big for a senior football player. He also wants to get with a girl named Dallas Suzuki. She is also a senior at the same highschool. Ben thinks shes the best. But she is kind of a slut. Dallas is on the school yearbook and just wants to get with Ben. Ben thinks that Dallas has something for him because she asked him to homecoming. But i dont think thats the case...

The characters in this book are very animate and really just seem real to me. The main character of the book is named Ben Wolf. He's a somewhat stubborn, yet very strong individual. Though he knows he's going to die soon, he continues to carry out his life. This shows that Ben is extremely brave and fearless. He also chooses not to tell his family or friends that he's dying. To me, this is an act of caring He doesn't want to see his family hurt and broken. Another main character in Deadline is Dallas Suzuki. She's the girl whom Ben is absolutely infatuated with. She is smart, tall, and beautiful. A good word to describe Dallas would have to be mysterious. I say this because she does very strange things. For instance, she slept with Ben, then she told him to leave. Later in the book you find out her reasoning behind it. Turns out Dallas has a big secret as well. When she reveals it to Ben, he contemplates telling her about his condition. But then he decides against it. Do you think Ben should tell Dallas?

The main Charcter in this book is Ben Wolf. He is listed as short 5'7" and only weighs 125 lbs. so he's a little guy. I can tell he has a lot of pride becuase he refuses to get treatment and instead decides to live out his life to the fullest. He is liitle arogant but i don't think it's too bad when you have only 1 year to live. He is always showing up his teacher Mr.Lambeer showing how much smarter and how much more he knows than him. He has a younger brother Cody who is the big football star just as much as Ben is. Cody depends on Ben to read the opposing defense and work out strategies so Cody can play well.

I don’t think that Ben should keep this whole disease thing a secret. I think he needs to tell his family especially his brother. Being that he and his brother are becoming closer because of the football team, he should be the first to find out. I also think that it will affect Ben’s brother Cody the most. They are very close and I would not want my brother to keep it a secret.

Anne i disagree with the statement "he has a very low chance since he had never played before" about football, many people who play a certain sport can play other sports too. For instance Ben mentioned how often he played backyard football with his brother. Not to mention he was already really fast running track so at the very least he had a chance.

    Michael,
I agree with when you said,"Also it shows that he has a lot of strength to know that he only has a year to live and still be able to live with it and not tell anyone about it."
Because I know that if that were me, I'd want to tell everyone I knew. I'd probabably even go into a state of morbid depression. I think it's very brave of Ben to try and pursue his dreams before he dies. I would feel so overwhelmed that I'd have a hard time doing really anything. I'm not sure if its really a good idea though, for Ben to keep his illness from his family. Especially his brother. His brother will most likely feel really hurt and betrayed because Ben with held this big secret from him, and they're basically eachother's 'other halves'. I wonder what Cody is going to do when Ben dies..

Nick i agree that football is a big thing beacuse of how that was the one sport he wanted to play for his last year. Not to mention that before homecoming he got a major applause showing that it mattered to other students. He also wanted to play by his brother though.

    Krista,

As I've been reading this book I've been realizing that Ben is doing many things that before, he probably only would have dreamed of. So, I agree with when you said, "I think Ben will do as much as he can before he dies and try new things." I think that his life will impact many many people. I also think that he will change Rudy's(the "town drunk") life in some way. Ben sees that Rudy needs help and guidance. I'm only about halfway through the book and I can already see that Ben has his heart set on changing Rudy's outlook on life. I believe that Ben's life will teach many people in the book to take chances and go after what they want.

Krista I agree with you. I think that Ben will try and do anything and everything he can before he dies. The part about trying new things would be where he tries out for the football team. I think he will become good at football and then he will play in the last game of the season and make a big impact on the school and it will change the way people look at Ben. I also think that one of his other new things that he will try will be this homecoming thing with Dallas. I wonder how things are going to turn out...

Ben is a senior at Trout high. Ben was a super star athlete at running long distance for his track team. Even thought he has cancer this year for him is all about risk. One of his first major risks is asking out Dallas Suzuki. He has held in all of his feelings about cancer and ever since her he now wants to tell some one but he’s worried they might tell his parents. The main character in my book is Ben Wolf. He is described as a small boy. He weighs 125lbs and is much smaller than his brother Cody. Cody calls him "Little Big Brother". (Direct) Once he is diagnosed with cancer he immediately thinks of his family and others. This makes me think he is a very caring person. He also wants to do things he has never done before. Such as try out for the football team as a senior. Some people think he is crazy for running cross country his whole high school years then all the sudden try for football. And because he only weighs 125lbs this makes a big impact of how people think about him. He turns out to be a great player who tackles a lot. I think this tells how he is open to anything. He is willing to do anything before his life is over.

an internal conflict would be Ben's mom, and her disease. this is a disease where she goes crazy for periods and then she crashes. as you can see, it is a bad thing to have. i think that she will probably get over it before ben dies. that is just a guess though. if i were to choose an external one, i'd have to say it would be ben verses his history teacher. this is kinda funny because most people are afraid of their teachers but not ben. he is just doing what he thinks is right and that is a good thing. most of the text books are filled with lies in this book, and i believe its kinda true. peace!

The mood I get when Im reading deadline is nervouse. I don't know if Ben is going to tell Dallas his secret, or even when hes going to die. I get nervouse when there playing big football games. The tone the author is giving is also nervouse. It seems Ben doesn't know what to do and he's scared like hell for this disease to take over his life.

The external conflict in this story is that Ben sooner or later is going to die of this disease he has. Thats a conflict that can't be solved because Ben refuses to take treatment for it and go through the therapy.
The internal conflict in this story is Ben deciding to keep this life taking disease a secret. Ben is debating whether to tell his girl Dallas his very personal secret. He feels he should tell her the truth because she has told him a very personal secret about herself.

The main charcater Ben is facing an internal conflict. This conflict is weither or not he should tell everyone that he is going to die. He found out at the beginning of the book from a doctor in town. Ben made the doctor follow the rules and not tell anyone about his condition. He has used alot of his time debating weither or not he should tell everyone. I think that Ben will trust someone with it and they will end up telling people. The mood of the novel is a mix of many things. One thing is happiness for Ben because he is achieveing all of his goals. Another is sad because you know that Ben is creating relationships with people who he has to leave behind soon. Finally there is a fealing of sympathy for Ben because he is finally getting everything he wanted and he knows that he has to give it up.

He copes with it by talking to his imaginary friend hey-soos. he also refuses to tell him friends and family. which personaly i would tell in a heartbeat, so they wouldnt freek out even more when the time come. Like his mom, shes up and down everyother day. it just makes you wonder how it will effect her. the mood of the story is more then one i would say. right now i would say happy hes geting everything he wants to live his life to the fullest and that all that matters to him

Only a couple people know and one is his therapist and the other is his doctor. He doesn’t want anyone to know. I think that Ben had to make a hard decision to keep this secret to himself, and I think that keeping it a secret will only hurt him more in the long run. But, he soon starts to realize it won't be normal. If he tells his friends/family about his disease, they'll treat him differently. They would be depressed before he even dies. They could even suggest treatment. Ben doesn't want that at all. He wants to enjoy his time left. On the other hand, he also realizes that if he doesn't tell the people around him the truth, it could be just as harmful. They'll feel betrayed by him. They'll want an explanation which they'll obviously never get if he's dead. Especially Dallas, who poured her heart out to Ben. So Ben must decide whether or not to tell her,or maybe even everyone, about his disease.

The external conflict is obviously the fact that Ben Wolf has only 1 year to live. The character will most likely die because he refuses to get treatment for his deadly disease. One internal conflict is that he hates the fact that he hasn't told anybody about his 1 year to live except his therapist. He probably will manage to tell his family but he's already halfway through his 1 year. The mood at first was cool and calm, you didn't know what to expect. Now it's a little panicky, Ben is starting to realize how short he has to live.

Michael I have to say I disagree with your statement. I don’t think that Ben is breaking down and getting really emotional. I really don’t think he is going to tell Dallas. I think he is still going to keep it a secret from her because I don’t think he could handle her if he would tell her.

Blake I totally agree with you. I think that Ben is going to live his life to the fullest. I also think that when he starts dying I think that people will start to wonder why. I think he will keep it a secret from everyone including Dallas for now and then eventually tell people when he ends up in the hospital.

    Monica,
I kind of agree with when you said, "I think that Ben will trust someone with it and they will end up telling people."
I think Ben will end up telling Dallas. I say this because he seems to trust her. However, I do not think she will tell anyone. She'll probably urge Ben to tell Cody at least, but I dont think she'll tell anyone about it. She trusts him with her secret so I think she'll be trustworthy enough to keep Ben's secret. I think she'll understand why he kept it from people for so long, but I also think it will greatly upset her. I think she loves Ben and just hasn't told him yet. It's pretty obvious that Ben loves her. Therefore, I think the feeling might be mutual. So, if she really does love him, I dont think she will ruin his secret and betray him like that.

    Julia,

I agree with you fully. It is a huge internal conflict that Ben hasn't told anyone about his disease, his 1 year to live, and his refusal of treatment. His mom probably will be effected in the worse way imaginable. Yes she's already up and down (mostly down) so with this news she can only go down.

    Julia,
I disagree with this: "he wants to live his life to the fullest and that all that matters to him". I only disagree because that's not the only thing that matters to Ben. He wants to make an impact on the world somehow in some way shape or form. Ben isn't content with just living his life to the fullest. He is concerned about what will happen to him after he dies. He's scared. Scared of the way people will react. Ben's also scared that his life won't make a difference, although he's trying really hard to make sure it does. That, is truly all that matters to him.

    Monica,

I don't think the story is filled with different moods, I can only see the nervousness, arrogant, and panicky parts. This whole story has been a conflict about life or death. Espicially sense he keeps going to hey-soos for help. But i do agree on your internal conflict.

An internal conflict that Ben has is that he doesn't know if he should tell Dallas Suzuki that he is dying. Dallas has told him a lot about her life like what happened with her uncle and her situation with Joe Henry. Ben told Dallas that he would stay and she is counting on him to do that. He doesn't want to tell her and make her sad but he also doesn't want to die and leave her wondering why he didn't tell her.
I think Ben will solve this conflict by telling Dallas he is going to die. She will be really hurt but it would be better than just dying because she can have time to prepare.

A internal conflict that Ben has is towards Dallas and trying to tell her about his situation. Dallas has confided alot to Ben. She has told him about her uncle and how Joe Henry is her actual son. And all of that makes Ben feel worse that he hasn't told her yet.
I think that Ben will tell Dallas after a while. But I think she will feel betrayed because Ben didn't tell her earlier, and because she has told him so much already. Over time I think she will forgive him but it will take a while. But once he tells her he will feel better and that he will be able to talk to her about how he feels about dying.

One of Ben’s major conflicts is that he isn’t sure if he wants to tell Dallas Suzuki that he is slowly dying. This really might affect there relationship because she just keeps telling Ben everything but Bens keeps saying he has nothing to tell her. But I predict that Ben might die before Dallas knows and she going to never date anyone again because everyone she dates does something really bad to her or they leave her. So this could really affect a lot of people in this book if he doesn’t tell her that he is dying. I like this book so far.

An internal conflict that Ben has to face is whether or not he wants to tell his family and friends about his rare form of cancer and that he only has one year to live. He's becoming more and more popular everyday and even has a girlfriend that he cares about which makes it harder for him. His mom has emotional break downs all the time and thinks that this could really break her once his illness takes over him. He's getting everything he wanted but knows that the end is near for him.

Anne- I think you are right about Ben being a caring person and trying new things that other people think is crazy. I think when he realizes this his mood will change.

Anne, i agree with you as well. with the smaller the town the harder it is to keep a secret. and once one person finds out the hole town will and i think that on of his bigest fears is he dosent know what anyone is gonna think let alone who all he would feel he let down.

I think that Ben has an internal conflict, knowing he has a year to live. In my experiences I know that if my doctors told me I had one year to live, I would have a very hard time dealing with it. He is also contemplating telling Dallas His secret. I’m sure he does want her to know because she told him her secret, but what if she tells someone? But if he doesn’t tell her, once he is gone she is going to wonder why he didn’t. I predict that he will tell someone, it may not be Dallas but I’m guessing his brother. They have gotten very close with football and I think he is going to tell him.

all in all i loved this book. its not my favorite one, but it had a very good message, and i even cried at the end, which doesn't happen very often to me. i really like the pace in the book, and the jaw dropping moments weren't like in the same section of the book like some others i've read. i really liked how the author brought you to the characters and you got attached to them. this plot has a different flavor than most books that i have read. the moment that stood out the most for m was when you found out that the town drunk was not only an ex-priest, but he is a child molester. that was SHOCKING!!! all in all this deserves a spot on the gateway book list.

  81. Nick, scheller ,5th hour: I really liked this book for many reasons, and was only disappointed by two things, for example i like the book because before Ben died he was able to do every thing he said he wanted to do,such as having sex with the girl of his dreams(Dallas Szukiiaa) and he made it to state championships with the football team, also he was able to have a good relation ship with Dallas, and he made a drunk depressed man feel some what happy before the man committed suicide, and he was able to tell all the people close to him about his sickness and how he was going to die,so he died with out regret and died happy, but it upset me that after everything was going so well he didnt want to die,but he still did die,but he accepted it,also i didnt like how they made it to football state championships but didnt win,but all and all i really liked this book,it was really interesting and made you not want to stop reading,it makes you feel like all this really happend, but those are the many reasons i like the book and the very few reasons i didnt like it.

This book was a good book. Ben did many things with his last year. He tried out for the football team, was a star, got the girl, learned things about people and life. The best part was the beginning where everything was going great, he made the football team, made the winning catch at the homecoming game, got Dallas Suzuki, made fools of his teachers and school staff. The ending and the way it unraveled was very hectic. It ended too fast, too many things were going on for me to enjoy it. The best part was when he made the winning catch. It was one of the more exciting moments in the book. One of the weirder moments was when he found out that the town drunk was a priest. Not to mention that he ended up commiting suicide. The worst part was when he had to tell everbody he was dying and when he realized the whole time he wasn't telling them he was dying he was betraying them. Overall this book was a good book. It started out slow but exciting and eventually got so hectic i felt like the book just jumped or skipped to the end.

The book Deadline was a very good book. The main character, Ben played a very good role. He took many twists and turns, and he had to keep some secrets. I was glad that he was able to get with his dream girl, Dallas Suzuki. I was hoping that Ben wouldn’t end up dying in the end and I was hoping that he would marry Dallas, that wasn’t the case. But since Ben died because of his disease I think that Cody, Ben’s brother is going to get with Dallas while they are in college (because they are going to the same college). Dallas’s character played a sad but interesting role. It was tragic that she had a baby with her uncle and that she kept it a secret for so long. That’s just what she had to do. The book was good and I would recommend it to anyone to read.

I think that the book Deadline, was very influencial. It taught a great lesson about life. The lesson it taught me personally, was that you should take chances and live your life to the fullest. Not just to the fullest, but how YOU want to live it. In the book Ben finds out he's only got one year left to live out his life. He is only 18 and hasn't experienced much other than high school. Therefore, he takes numerous chances that he never would have taken if it weren't for that. At one point, Ben reminisces on how he lived his life before he found out about his illness, and he then wishes that he would have lived his whole life the way he wanted to(rather than just one year.) I also realized from this book how important one person's life truly is. In the book, three people die. Each one of them affected many, many people in a lot of different ways. Ben wanted to make an impact on people before he died, and I think that he successfully did it. He greatly touched the lives of Dallas, Rudy, Cody, and also all of the student body at his school. He even changed the name of a street. So, to sum this up; I thoroughly enjoyed Deadline, and I would definitely reccomend it to anyone!

Deadline was a great book. It was honestly way better than i thought it would be. the book was seriously like a movie, i could picture everything that went on in my mind perfectly. Even though it was depressing, it still had alot of great moments and if you havent read it, you definently need to. I dont read very often but this book made me just want to keep reading and not even stop. I felt like i was attached to the characters, making me feel whatever they were going through and having the same emotions. i would definently recommend this to someone because it was a amazing book.

I thought this book was pretty good. I would recommend it to someone. A lot of stuff happened in it that kept me interested the whole time. I wanted to keep reading to see what happened. I did not really like the ending but it was okay. There were some surprises in the book that you would not see coming. But there were also some very predictable events, like the ending. The book teaches you to live your life to the fullest though and to not be scared of anything. The book also shows that you should just tell the truth because lying makes everything worse for everyone. I think the book also makes it look like it is okay to give up and not try to fight to live. But this was a good book that I would read again if I could. It is a good book to read to learn to appreciate life.

I think that this is a very good book to read. For someone who deosn't like reading I enjoyed reading it. There are a lot of events that take place in the book that will keep you guessing. Also some of the things that happen are not something you could have guessed. Overall I liked the book except for the ending because it was sad. I am glad I chose to read because I liked it. I think in the book there is a lesson to learn which is never be afraid to take chances and just because your scared to do something you should not give up. Also you should tell the truth right from the start because towards the end it will be harder and could have more consequences. And I believe that, that was the point that the book was trying tell. So if your looking for a good book read Deadline.

This was a very good easy read. I would recommend it to anyone that does not read a lot. It was just an all around good book except for the ending. It had a great well thought beginning. The beginning was all about him and what he was out to do and it was very descriptive. Also it might just have been me but I couldn’t picture Ben but still good. Also it had a great descriptive middle. The middle was all about him going out and going to accomplish all of his goals and to realize he is slowly getting sicker and sicker. But what it really lacked was the ending! The ending was about him making sure that he was at peace with everyone and letting out his secret and that he had to tell people about it and the thing that made it bad in my option was that he died too quick. I thought I jumped right past his death to past and that it didn’t talk about his other charters feelings; otherwise it was a great book.
